About the P&C

Yarralumla PS new logo

Yarralumla P&C is an active parent body within the Yarralumla Primary School organisation. It meets once a term (usually week 3) and is crucial in supporting the school both financially and  socially via a variety of events. It operates two school enterprises, the canteen and the uniform shop. It also supports the Fundraising Committee as well as other subcommittees as required.

All YPS families are encouraged to participate in our diverse, vibrant and energetic community. All expressions of interest can be directed to the P&C Executive at president@ypspandc.com.

For information about the school refer to the YPS school website at  http://www.yarralumlaps.act.edu.au/

What’s  new

  • Swim and Survive Program 22 August – 2 September
  • Fathers Day Stall – Friday 2 September, gifts range from $2-$5
  • Election Day Stalls Update

The election day stalls raised $3,142 in a few short hours, selling out of everything bar a few sausages. Thankfully, the weather was kind and the long lines of voters provided a great opportunity for our students to sharpen their sales skills as they worked the queues selling bags of biscotti!

The P&C would like to thank everyone who volunteered to bake, work on the stalls and lend eskies. We know that parents and carers are busy so your efforts and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated:
Fiona Smith du Toit, Leanne Muir, Lisa Testoni, Daniela Origa, Natasha Johns, Alexandra Webb, Sam Birch, Frank Van de Loo and Lanie Stephens, Kate Black, Minal Shah, Lina Christian, Marina McDonald, Melissa Coggan, Louise and James Rawlings, Renee and Jason Shuttleworth, Rochelle Whyte, Lisa and Scott Lockey, Kate Jarvis, Kyeen Grivas, Bella Insch, Caroline and Alex Fahey, Susan Pratt, Rosalba Morabito, Patience Neal, Frances Connor, Laura Fuhrman, Vera Potter, Richard and Rebecca Reye, Dan Crawford, Simeon Coghlan, Andy Castle, Eric Green, Anthony Sirr, Phil Hartley, Shannon Orefice, Paul Hyde and Craig Fitzgerald.

If I’ve forgotten to thank anyone, please except my apologies!

Special thanks to Bernadette Mihaljevic for organising the Sausage Sizzle, Garran Bakery for generously donating bread and Marie Andersson at Here’s the Coffee for providing the coffee cart and donating $55.40 from their proceeds.

Believe it or not, we have the A.C.T. election in a couple of months, so it would be great to repeat this effort!

Mel Jamieson.
P&C Vice President.

P&C Meetings

Parents and the local community are invited to attend P&C meetings. Meetings are held in the school staffroom, usually in Week 3 of each term, with motions and agendas being advertised via the school newsletter. Meetings usually start around 7pm and aim to be finished within 2 hours. Meetings are a way to hear what is happening at the school directly from the Principal and the School Board and an opportunity to raise any concerns or suggestions.
